Shell

What dreaming about shell means

A shell symbolizes protection and vulnerability hidden under a hard exterior, as well as the voice of the subconscious you hear when you hold it to your ear. It's a symbol of two layers at once — hard protection on the outside and delicacy within, which together make up a whole.

Finding a beautiful shell on the beach usually speaks to discovering something valuable in yourself despite the tough exterior you present day to day — it can also signal that it's worth looking deeper beneath the surface-level protection you put up against the world. An empty or cracked shell can reflect the sense that protection once provided by a relationship, home, or situation has been lost, and that you now feel more exposed than usual. A tightly closed shell can picture a defensiveness that's grown excessive.

Note whether the shell in your dream was empty or someone was living in it. In a dream journal, like the one in the Lunka app, that detail often shows whether the dream is about your own vulnerability or about a relationship with someone who's closing themselves off from you.
